Vampire Diaries is the BEST.. Twilight is too mushy for it to be realistic and its too cliche… but Vd is more realistic and idealistic… Elena was creeped out the stephan was a vampire but she over came it

True Blood beats all PERIOD, twilight and that vampire diaries doesnt follow the clique a vampire is supose to have such as not being able to sustain sunlight, and they both look somewhat similar.
Um well actually Vampire diaries does. the only reason the vamps in that show can walk in sunlight is because they have a ring on that has the power to protect them from sunlight. But if you watched the show you would no that
technically it isnt the ring they need. its the stone in it. the lapis luzi (or how ever its spelled) but yea. =) i think this is better than the cliche they have that vamps cant walk in sunlight. that is just as rediculous as not liking garlic or invisable in mirrors or photos. so i think this makes it mysterious and easier for them to mingle with mortals =D

In The Vampire Diaries, which was written by L. J. Smith and published in 1991, the Vampires can’t go out in the sunlight, unless protected by the gem stone Lapis Lazuli, which is worn in a piece of jewellery. In the TV show, I believe the crest rings that Stefan and Damon wear are these said rings from the books.
I’m not really a fan of True Blood, but in all honesty, I only watched the first episode and haven’t read the books. I’d rather read the books first before I really comment about them.
True Blood of course ^^ and for me… well, the thing is that the Twilight movie BLOWS (heh heh, as in “synonym for sucks, but less vampire-related”), but I totally love the books. Don’t know what Vampire Diaries will be like, but it sounds kind of stupid to me – Lapis Lazuli, my ass…

True Blood! Twilight is so weak. I mean really…. Vampires that shimmer and walk during the day??? Kind of takes the fun out of vampires. I will admit that I did love the romance part of the books. Who doesn’t want a guy who would take care of you like that? But, to me they sound more like blood sucking fairies than vamps.
I haven’t read the VD books… But I checked out the promo and it just looked like every other kiddie CW show.
True blood goes all out. Twilight is only good in the books and it get stale after reading the second one. Vampire Diaries looks interesting but as far as I can tell you’re right, it is a kiddy version of good old fashion vampire stories.
It depends on how old you are. Because if your younger you may like VD and T but if you’re older you may like TB.

I absolutely love watching True Bloods, but I haven’t read the Sookie Stackhouse novels yet though.
My issue is I feel like True Bloods is a bit of a knockoff of The Anita Black Vampire Hunter novels (just a bit, the heroines are waaaaay different of course. But whenever I see Eric I think “OMG! Jea-Claude!” and stuff.

I read the Anita Blake novels. I got into Anita before Sookie. And when I first started reading I found it to be a lot a like. But, once you start getting into them you’ll see how different they are. For one Sookie doesn’t try to shut people out. And she doesn’t have sex with everyone. I swear Anita’s books have too much sex…. yes that’s right too much sex. Anyways I heard that they’re making an Anita Blake tv show.
I have to disagree with you about Eric and Jean-Claude.
True Blood is definately the best Twilight is crap compared to it. Twilight has just dwindled and i really think that once it came out as a movie everyone took it too far. But with True Blood i like how it is so much alike to the books and the sookie stackhouse books are far better than Twilight. I admit i was pretty excited about Twilight but it is shit compared to other books i read and i really think everyone should get over it.

True blood is at least ALMOST real.. at least they try to relate to us humans instead of glorifying their perfection~ I prefer that. I prefer REAL than TRYING TOO HARD.

The neat thing about TB is it could happen! Synthetic blood allowing vamps to “come out of the coffin” unlikely but COULD happen….especially if they are successful with making synthetic blood.
The only thing I like about Twilight(the books and the movies) is Jacob Black, which in real life that dumb twit Bella would have chose. Edward’s a dick who even newly turned Jessica could whip his ass!
Alexander Skarsgard makes True Blood. The books are so much better but hey the show is still pretty sweet. The twilight books cannot even compete with the Stackhouse novels.

I have loved them all. After saying that I do have to add that I have loved True Blood more! It seems that True Blood has a more mature feel. Twilight was good but it had a premise that spoke more to those in the “post adolescence to pre adulthood angst” phase of life. True Blood is sincere, heart felt, lustful, and ruthless. All the things we adults are, and therefor feel the need to indulge in during our down time. I personally love them all though and am very thankful vamps have made come back. I have been hooked ever since Interview with a Vampire. Now we all have so much dark tv to choose for I am filled with excitement.
On the topic of the leading men… I would take any of them to coffin, but I would only give Eric my real number. Bad is so so good, don’t you think.

I mean after a frustrating day at work i look forward going home getting my ice-cream diming my lights putting on my comfy clothes and popping in tru blood, I meani am so happy that there is a movie that can hold my attention if not for a moment, now me and my spouse is so hooked on it we are already thinking about season 3, I mean i must admit i am new blood to this series but believe me i am quite up-to-date now. (giggle) Now it is very adult but real. I first was introduce to Twlight and i was like ok cool, ya i can dig it but my attention quickly faded once tru blood stepped in-and lets just say my eyes was not so clouded by all the glitter in the sunlight(laugh) the daries things does not sound like my cup of tea but i guess i should watch a series or two before i make any judement. Or fall asleep…………………….
Personaliy i love all the books but you put them in movie/tv they kinda loose something. maybe because in my head this vampires are unhumanly handsome and on the screen they are at best hot. (i have a good imagination)lol
When it comes to the book series, I have to say Twilight (I haven’t yet read True Blood ones, I do plan to soon) I read Vampire Diaries and the ending was horrible, it wasn’t like Twilight, the characters are infact differen’t from each other (the main girl is a mean prep to start and I find the couple to be very shallow). As for the Shows, I say True Blood. I’m very wrapped up in it, I loved the Twilight movie but I hate Robert P. so I can never enjoy it enough. I don’t think I’ll like the Vampire Diaries show at all since the books turned out to suck majorly. Sorry to anyone who did like them a lot. Thats just my opinion though.
I’ve only read the Twilight books so I can make a judgement there, but I still like the Twilight movie better than TB…and since everyone here is TB all the way: hear me out!!
If things continued the way they were going in True Blood’s first season it might have bested Twilight but seriously – does anyone think that the Sookie/Eric/Bill thing is just a little overdone? Even though I love Eric and Sookie, they’re way too worked up and end up looking like children at times which really takes away from the show! Bill has really lost it, sad but true, and sometimes I think the innocence of Twilight is just a little refreshing. Romantic comedies get old and so does all the blood and gore!
I’m willing to give the Vamp Diaries a try but it looks a little soapy to me…

Have you really properly read Twilight, or were you to busy dreaming of darling Edward? The Twilight books are one of the most shallow books i have ever read, almost on every page Edward is called beautiful or something similar. Its all about looks.
This is just going to create an even bigger shallow bunch of teenagers who think they can only ever fall in love with someone who is nice to look at and has a great body. As if it wasn’t bad enough already.

You are saying that the Twilight couple was shallow but it’s not. If YOU really read the book properly you will figure out that she’d rather him not be rich, or gorgeous. She loves him because he’s sweet, smart, charming, and loves her for who she is.
And as for this TB thing. (I didn’t read or see the show so don’t say a word to me about this) It seems like it’s more about sex and more sex…so wouldn’t that be making WE TEENAGERS think about sex all the time? (You tell me)

This is probably why True Blood is on HBO and not the Disney channel. It’s meant to be for adults, not teenagers.
I’ve read and watched all three and I’m 23years old.
Twilight was great book wise, even if poor Bella was always letting herself be pushed around by her hotties. Really ticked me off when Edward would never let her see Jake. (Team Cullen fan here. GO JASPER!!!) If a guy would have told me not to do something, even if for my own good, I’d find someone else, life is about choice and I like to make my own.
As for the Sookie Stackhouse series (TEAM ERIC!!!), I think it’s awesome to find a book and TV show that I can watch with my husband without him gagging. In fact, he loves True Blood and The Vampire Diaries as much as I do, just couldn’t stomach the Twilight movie.

I was obsessed with twilight once, but i forget about them after i finished read sookie stachouse novel book 1, i continue reading until i finished book 9 in 10 days !!.( i read book 3 later because in the beginning i hate sookie break up with bill..).

Twilight is just so… innocent (that is excluding the last book, which is my LEAST favorite out of all). But trueblood is… impossible to describe. it’s just EVERYTHING.
I personally did not like the vampire diaries that much, and the cast… let’s just say they are quite different from what i have imagined as i read the book.

I have no clue about the diaries (someone called it “VD” and that made me giggle). I love Twilight (yes, i like sparkly vampires.. i have a right to my opinion/tastes). I love True Blood as well though. Both, in my opinion are great works of fiction with very different selling points.
I find Twilight refreshing.. its nice to be able to read (or watch) a vampire book that aint filled with blood and sex and more sex.
I find True Blood intriguing … sometimes i want to read (or watch) a book filled with sex, blood and sex.
The universes between the 2 are so vastly different that its unfair to compare them, its like comparing Robert A. Heinlein’s Starship Troopers (military science fiction) with Anne McCaffery’s Tower and the Hive series (science fantasy). Sure, they share common points (alien bug invaders) but they are so vastly different that they can not, logically, compete against each other.
i have read the twilight series and on every page bella is talking about edward saying he is the most perfect thing every witch gets really annoing.and stephanie meyar cannonot wright a good book.And true blood i have not read them so i am not going to say anything bad about it.But the vampire diaries are the best books i have read and i am pretty sure the tv show series is going to be good.But twilight sucked worst books ever and horrable movie.

I personally love the Anita Blake Series by Laurel K Hamilton, her books are more adult. Also, her books have all kinds of supernatural beings in them, so if u love supernatural of all kinds I think you will like her books. Beware that they are not like Twilight, Vampire diaries, or True blood. Her books contain believable characters, romance, violence, action, and sex. Like I said her books are very adult. So if you want mushy romance then stick to Twilight, and The Vampire Diaries. Her books are closer to True Blood, but in my opinion much better. I love the True Blood show and the book series, just so you know. Twilight was good, the books were better. And I haven’t seen The Vampire Diaries. But all in all I think Laurel K Hamilton’s books out shine all of these books. You guys should read her books and tell me what you think. You may love them or may not, all depends what your in to.
Twilight definitely caught my eye when I originally read it, and well when I read it again, but it’s obvious that the way in which Smeyer orchestrated Bella and Edwards relationship to be.. too perfect. Yeah yeah they break up, but it really is just a way to prolong the series for another book, ha. The series is immature, but has it’s own appeal for those romantics.
True blood. I have been wanting BADLY to read the books, but the library here never has them in ;/. The show definitely shines upon the more “grown up” reality of vampires and how well they kill people. some times. even bill.

I keep seeing the little preview for the vampire diaries.. kind of looks like Twilgiht to me, but I haven’t read the books so I really don’t know. It’s definitely iffy.
First of all, Both Twilight and the Vampire Diaries are pretty much aimed at those under 21. True Blood is more for an older segment of the audience 25+ so there is a different dynamic involved here. I have read all of the Twilight books (my fave being book 3 Eclipse) Stephenie Meyer’s world of vamps diifers greatly from Ms. Harris’ concept of vampires in the south.
True Blood is Much better!! Better writing…just more visceral TB grabs on and goes for the jugular…its just a great show! I enjoyed reading the first Twilight book …who can’t relate to those awkward teenage years feeling like an outcast among peers and such!! Edward Cullen seems almost noble more like an enchanted troubled prince than a bloodsucking monster. James,Victoria and Laurent seem like the Only Real vampires in the story. Funny how Sookie Stackhouse can read people’s minds and Bella Swan can block vampires from reading hers.
Bill Compton Does drink Sookie’s blood and their lovescenes are very intense. However, Edward and Bella marry and conceive a hybrid vampire child~~~renesmee carlisle cullen.
The child can not only read minds but can draw others into hers also.

Vampire Diaries the show is going to be my new addiction. I have read the books but can’t get into it as much as Twilight. But the Twilight movie sucked (people who say its good need to read the book and compare it because the book was sooo much better then the movie) and True Blood, I couldn’t get into it either. So book wise Twilight is the best but tv/movie wise Vampire Diaries.
I agree the first movie of Twilight stunk so bad because, she left so much stuff out…I can’t describe it but it it felt like it was too different stories…i guess. (SPOILER ALERT) though in the sedond film it conected with the book.

I’m not a fan of Twilight, so I’ll leave that one be.
As for the other two, I absolutely love them both, however in different ways! These two shows are SO very different that it seems downright ridiculous to pit them against each other. True Blood is obviously designed for a mature audience, while the Vampire Diaries can easily be enjoyed by all ages. I like the complexity of the characters in True Blood and how they choose the portray vampires. And though the guidelines for vampires are different in Vampire Diaries, it works for the series.
I haven’t read any of the True Blood novels, but I have read the Vampire Diaries and they are by far some of my favorite books. While there are obvious differences between the books and the TV series, I’ve decided not to let it get to me and just enjoy the shows. I think for those in a hurry to write the show off as being too romantic or juvenile, I would definitely wait and give it a chance. Especially if they choose to pursue any of the story lines from the books, it will go far beyond the romance and explore other issues the town will face.
**And I must say, although there are some good vampire shows currently on the air, for me nothing will ever replace Buffy as being the best!

I think the thing here is we are dealing with some new ideas when it comes to vampires. The original idea was to portray the vampire as a sadistic monster, a fiend who only sought blood from its victims.This is certainly evident from Bela Lugosi’s portrayal in the 1931 film( a classic)

Since then, they have tried to make the vampire more romanticized a tortured soul, a passionate lover self- loathing…someone you might actually want to befriend. Because of this, I think thats why vampires are a hot commodity in hollywood now. Twilight,VD even True Blood enjoy popularity because of this trend. Sort of a Would you still love your guy/gal if they were hiding a dark secret they are a A. Vampire B.Werewolf C. Shape-shifter Would you? These creatures take no accountability for their actions. they hunger,live and love fiercely with no consequence so it seems. That is why so many find these strories hard to resist! the vampire is seductive it draws you in. Thats why I think these are so powerfully entrancing to many!
As for all of you who are pining away for Eric Northman of TB, Eric is sadistic,cruel hostile and nasty. I did not like how he tortured Lafayette and is not very nice to Sookie he was downright mean to Sam. Plus he rips into his victims like they were cookies!! Bill Compton IS a vampire a monster yes but he Unlike Eric has compassion and likes humans …not just to eat! He is deeply troubled about being a monster. Once he was a vicious,bloodthirsty creature but has evolved into trying to hold onto whats left of his humanity. The fact that Eric wept when he maker godric chose to destroy himself may mean hes not as vile as he seems either

Okay, first of all, let me say that I
love True Blood and it is very rich in making their audience feel what they’re feeling, but being a teenager and watching all the nude sex scenes just sort of takes some of the magic away from it–in a way.
I honestly think that the Vampire Diaries is better because it isn’t as kiddy-ish as Twilight, but not too sexually impulsive–for lack of a better word. I know all the adults are going to start with “oh, who cares what you think! You’re an immature teenager!”….I may be a teenager but I am also mature. The Vampire Diaries leaves me completely satisfied–it is an amazing series (not shallow at all–for the people accusing it of such things) an the TV show might be a little different, but I will still be jumping off the walls every Thursday.

Before claiming “mature teenager”, you should probably evaluate your literary skills. “Kiddy-ish” is obviously not a word, the use would be understandable if there wasn’t the clear choice of “childish” in its place. You almost never use a “-” properly, if at all. Lastly, (and I blame addictinggames.com for this cause every says it) it’s ADDICTIVE! I understand what you mean here. True Blood is a good show,But it Can be Very graphic sexually and with violence. I think Twilight is Not So intense or graphic. I Dont think that teens should be watching TB as its Not age appropriate for them. Twilight would be Much better…Plus its geared toward their certain demographic. I certainly would NOT recommend The 1st Season of True Blood to ANY 1 Under 18 Thats just me! Where Twilight can be viewed by tweens and teens alike. In Fact, I wouldnt advise Any Under 21 to watch the first few episodes of Season 1…The First 3 or 4 Are Quite explicit!
Twilight And New Moon which will be out in less than a month,Would be better for teens and younger! That Doesnt mean that ALL Adults will like TB’s Graphic and Explicit subject matter either! It depends on the individual.
This is what I think about this here. VD seems like its meant for those under 18 perhaps even under 16. As an adult 30+ It just doesnt seem like it would hold my interest..for very long. I suppose all this “teen high school angst” holds little interest for me at this point. The struggle for acceptance as an adult is quite different than the acceptance that teens struggle for. The show VD seems like it would be too much like 90210 or One Tree Hill or Perhaps even Gossip Girl (none of which i watch) Although Bella Swan is a teen she is grappling with some very real grown-up type issues like stalking,murder monsters in her neck of the woods,and she has to make a choice as to which guy she will want to spend the rest of her existence with. pretty heavy stuff! Twilight is geared for teens also but its hardly soapy at least not that i think. Both Jacob Black and Edward Cullen are incessantly devoted to Bella…its not like Hey dude lets see if we can score with this chick….its more mature minded than that.
Bella Swan Is 17 but she has a maturity and wisdom beyond her years!
While most teens are out partying dating getting into mischief Bella is cooking for her dad,studying about shapeshifters and vampirism, and dealing with her bf’s family of bloodsuckers. Twilight is I think more fun deeper more meaningful and yet harmless.

I agree with Tony about Vampire Diaries and Twilight looking similar, but Vampire Diaries is more exciting and Damen is really something, he’s so evil and mean but he says things that are sooo funny, in the book and the TV show!
Unfortunately, I have not gotten to watch the VD yet, but I plan to. I haven’t read the books yet either but will because I have read other stories from this author and like her. At this point, I love True Blood better than the Twilight movie by far. But I actually like the Sookie Stackhouse books better than the series. I was very disappointed that Allen Ball did not keep the maenad the way she was protrayed in the book. I thought she was MUCH scarier in the book. I did enjoy the Twilight books though, even though they are shallow. I enjoyed the romance. I have always liked the vampire shows since I was little in which the lead is handsome and romantic. Plus I think the glittering vamps is an interesting twist. I thought the Twilight movie was disappointing, but I am willing to give New Moon a chance.

True Blood is the Best! However, Twilight –the books And the upcoming films— is its own little world as well. They are 2 entirely different stories. Twilight is mostly about Bella and Edward and Jacob everything else seems to revolve around this. True Blood is about the lives of the characters in a fictional LA town. I agree TB is much better..However Twilight Saga has its own special allure.
in my opinion they shouldn’t be compared, twilight is about an epic love, and a prince charming that happens to be a vampire and the damsel in distress, the love that conquers all but suffers it all during the process; true blood is more raw, it’s about sex, and the true dark nature of vampires and a dark sense of humor, with a dorky but strong lead woman; in the vampire diaries it’s more of a high school love meets danger, it has a stronger leading woman.

In Bon Temps, Vampires,Shifters and Weres are integrated into local society. Their existance is NO secret and their is dating between humans and vamps. In Forks there is too only it supposed to be discreet and a secret. In Forks you are dealt with harshly if you reveal or expose yourself as a vampire…its Not permitted and the Vulturi see to that!
In Bon Temps unconventional behavior ie exposure revealing yourself as a vampire is no big deal, However if a vampire attacks another vampire for blood or stakes 1 of his own kind That is a serious offense and is dealt with severly also.

But i find them all fairly similar. Middle ground being The Vampire Diaries.
Twilight is quite childish, but in all honesty, the books fall under the catagory of children’s books.
The Vampire Diaries is a lot like twilight, with the 17 year old vampire trying to be mainstream and going to high school, leading female being emotionally not all there, humans not knowing about vampires, a ‘baddie/baddies’ feeding on humans and getting reported as animal attacks.
True Blood, a lot more like The Vampire Diaries than Twilight, but with the added soft core porn.
I have only read the Twilight series (Sookie Stackhouse Series on order due to crappy bookstore). So this judgement is on what i have read and seen.
But to be totally honest True Blood is my favourite, because i’m sure i’m not the only one who was disappointed with the many ‘Fade to black’ moments in Breaking Dawn. I know i’m not the only one who finds the whole Vampiric scene sexy (True Blood is successful, proof of that) so to miss out an important factor of the Vampirism, is kinda stupid.

I am overwhelmed. My thoughts go out to the famlies of the victims. I cannot fathom that an event like this was allowed to occur.
Okey people here it is.. I’ve read ALL the books of all three book series and I’ve decided that True blood it’s TOO much fiction and in Twilight it gets a bit too much lovey dovey sometimes, but in The vampire diaries it’s both love, action and funny with Damon entertaining me during the whole book serie.
So to a conclution The vampire diaries is the best series of them all, sense I don’t get sick and tired of reading them. Now don’t get me wrong I love all the three of them but the vampire diaries isn’t nagging the same shit over and over again in the other books.

Twilight is the very good I love it, but it’s about Bella having to choose over Edward and Jacob, and getting through life without dying fromvampires. But in the book I loved the fact that they don’t have people dying ever stinkin page. As for the first movie…that was a serious disappointment, but the second movie…New Moon was better than the book by far. As for the ’sparkling’ thing though I didn’t get it until I read about how the book was thought of. You see Stephine Meyers dreamt about the meadow and the ’sparkling’ so she wrote about what happened before and after. Also Twilight is for preteens or teens…so Meyer had to keep it at a teen limit.
As for Vampire Diaries, I love that show and book too. I mean there is action between Stefon and Daemon, Love between Elena and Stefon, and Entertainment from Daemon. The show gets me excited. But the show was for people at like 15, 16 watever…so it has more killing in it. At first though I thought it was gonna copy off of Twilight but in the end they do not compare.
But I can’t comment on True Blood though, for I do not know what it is. So I can’t compare TB to any of the other books/shows/movies. But from what I’m reading it’s more about sex than anything.

Let me start of by saying, I’m sorry to those of you that have had a bad experience with twilight. I myself did not. At first when I picked up the book I did not think much of it. Not until it got me feeling emotions, as if I was in the book. Pretty soon I was relating with bella. I have never been a crowd person, being able to fit in just not choosing to do so. No one I knew was like me, rather picking a good book over a high school party. And then when edward could see past that, see bella for everything she was. It made me feel like “hey, maybe I have a chance.” Any book that makes a girl feel like that, should be praised. This book is not just of lust but of hope. Again I’m sorry if you think meyer is a horrible writer, your not wrong nor right. I hope you all find a book that changes everything about how you think, puts a new view in your head. True Blood sounds like a junk food book, just read it to enjoy. Not giving you anything to store in your head other then that Vampires are utterly lusty. Meyer has given me all that I have ever asked for in books. So let me just also say Thank you Meyer for putting up with criticism, because after all its criticism VS creation. Its easier to tare something down then to build it your self.
