The executive producer of the VD’s warned viewers that there would be an extreme loss of life over the last few episodes of season 2 – and boy she wasn’t kidding!

4 characters saw their demise in the last episode before the 2nd season finale, “The Sun Also Rises”, and Sara Canning – who played the role of Aunt Jenna, was one of those unfortunate few.

In an interview with TVLine, Canning spoke a little about her feelings about Aunt Jenna’s fate.

“It was a little sudden, but besides that, I wanted to wrap what Jenna meant in the show as best I could in the amount of time that was left for the character.”

Canning also spoke on whether she will return to show in the future (as dead characters on the show usually return in some capacity).

“I’m very grateful to Kevin and Julie (show execs) for bringing me aboard this show and I really think the world of the cast and crew, so of course I’d come back.  It would be much different to return to the show in that capacity, but I’d be open to it.”

Last night (5/5/2011) marked the last episode “The Sun Also Rises” before the sesason finale of Vampire Diaries next week.  Here’s a very, very brief recap.

The episode saw Tyler’s transformation with the arrival of the full moon and Jenna horrifically used as the vampire sacrafice – we did not see that coming!

Nina isn’t a vampire just yet.  This series has really been about the human being in love with the vampire and the human aspect of trying to deal and manage with the supernatural and immortal baggage that comes with a vampire.  So to turn Elena (Nina Dobrev) into a vampire just yet would be criminal, and would kill all the build up of trials and tribulations the two have encountered in this season.

Damon is still dying from the werewolf bite – how will he get out of this one?  Would drinking from the wolfie that bit him work?

Klaus and Elijah have flown the coop, which we have mixed feelings about.  We want the suckers dead for good, but to kill them off now would be a serious waste of two very well written villains.

With the amount of gore we saw in this episode, only god knows how they’re going to finish with the finale.  Eek!

Nina Dobrev has spoken out about her thoughts on tonight’s (5/5/2011) “The Sun Also Rises” episode, saying it will be epic and also sad!

Dobrev spoke with Hollywood Crush on the episode.

“It’s one pretty tear-jerking episode.  It’s a very intense, very sad episode.  So definitely tune in to watch that one because it’s pretty epic.” – she told Hollywood Crush.

She also spoke a little more about the filming side of the episode.

“Paul Sommers is directing it, and Paul Sommers is our director of photography, so he’s done every episode since the the beginning, except the pilot.  So it’s his directorial debust.  And it’s really cool and we’re really excited for him.”

We have no doubt in our minds that Nina is absolutely correct and there will be plenty of tears shed whilst watching this episode!  With SPOILER ALERT! Aunt Jenna now back as an undead, and Damon bitten by a werewolf – we’re biting our nails down for what disastrous things are going to go down next!  If Nina says that we’re going to cry, someone is definitely gonna die.  So be prepared VD fans, you’re in for an emotional rollercoaster.

Katerina Graham – a.k.a Vampire Diaries’ witch descendant Bonnie Bennett recently traded in her psychic powers on the show for sweatpants in her new role in the sequel to Honey - Honey 2. Having being credited as a dancer in several films prior to Vampire Diaries, we think we’re gonna be impressed with what we see!

In the dance flick, Graham plays Maria Ramirez – a 17-year old who has just returned from a brush with the law resulting in juvenile detention.  Ramirez returns to her Bronx neighborhood with fire in her belly and an aching to rebuild her life as a street dancer.  Ramirez takes refuge within the rec center that the legendary choreographer and dancer Honey (from the first Honey), and to keep out of trouble must live with Honey’s mom (Lonette Mckee).

Maria joins a street dance crew HDs, she trains them up with the desire to go head to head with her ex’s dance crew 718′s on dance competition television show – “Dance or Die”.

Graham will co-star alongside Randy Wayne (The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning), reality TV star Audrina Partridge (The Hills), choreographer and acretress Melissa Molinaro (How I Met Your Mother, Brothers), Saved By The Bell’s Mario Lòpez as himself and Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender and TV Show Weeds).

Whilst shooting scenes for the show at the 159-year old plantation, numerous unexplained freaky events started to unfold.  According to The Associated Press, whilst the cast were shooting a scene a piano began to play in the background.  When they crew investigated the noise, there was no one sat at the piano at all.  Other freakish incidents included lights flickering whilst Dobrev was in the bathroom, even though no one was around.  After the 2010 shoot, the cast and crew have not filmed there since.

This is not the first time happenings have been reported at the plantation – sightings have been witnessed by several others.  ”Ghost Hunters” – another television show were intrigued by the reports and decided to investigate the area in 2009.  The team later confirmed that they had found extraordinary evidence to suggest intelligent paranormal activity – yikes!

It’s times like this where I’m super glad I’m not an actress in a horror movie or starring in a supernatural TV show.  Being on spooky locations would freak me out!

Life & Style magazine are reporting that Paul married his longtime girlfriend Torrey Devitto in a secret ceremony in New York City recently.

Torrey Devitto – who plays Melissa Hastings on ABC’s Pretty Little Liars and Paul co-stared in the 2007 flick Killer Movie and have now been dating for over three years.  Since the reports have emerged or their secret nuptials, Torrey has been spotted wearing a canary yellow diamond and wedding band around the set of the ABC Family show.

This is not the first time publications have suspected a marriage between the couple, Wesley ignited rumors that the two were married when he was overheard referring to Torrey as his wife at an awards ceremony in May 2010.  His representative quickly dismissed the rumors, saying they were ”all lies and not true”.

However, the speculation this time a round appears to be true!  With Paul’s rep not returning phone call’s to confirm or deny – we say congratulations, you too!  Don’t they look adorable together?  And so smitten!

With season two drawing to an end and the finale freshly wrapped up – who will survive?  Executive Producer Julie Plec told press at a private screening of “The Last Day” at their CW offices that “The loss of life will be extreme in the last several episodes.”

“In vampire shows, the stakes are high and the death count has to match that.  Because if we don’t follow through on the stakes that we’re setting out – if you don’t believe that the consequences are life and death – then we’re not doing our job.”  Plec told press at CW offices.

I don’t know what to think!  They can’t get rid of VD’s faves like Damon or Stefan, even Elena or Jenna surely!?  Though Julie has a point given the current story line!  Elena has been taken by one of the “Original” vamps Claus in order to perform a magic ritual to release his inner werewolf (I suggest you catch up if you’ve missed a couple of episodes), which means certain death for Elena if Damon and Stefan don’t stop him in time.  Plec explained that, “Unfortunately for our characters , this ritual needs a lot of sacrificial elements “.
